Beginner SEO Tips That Actually Work (And Won’t Make Your Head Spin)
Let’s be real: SEO (Search Engine Optimization) sounds like something only computer wizards or giant businesses should worry about, right?
But guess what?
You can do SEO. You just need to understand a few basics—and I promise, you do not need to be techy or perfect to make it work.
Let’s break it down together so your website, blog, or business can get found online—by the right people.

First, What Is SEO?

SEO is just a fancy way of saying:
“Hey Google, can you show my stuff to people who are looking for it?”
When someone types something into Google (like “natural stress relief tips” or “how to start an online business”), SEO helps your content show up in the search results.
More visibility = more traffic = more people you can help 💥

Do I Really Need SEO If I'm Just Starting Out?

Yup—especially if:
✅ You want people to find you online
✅ You don’t want to rely only on social media
✅ You’re building something long-term
✅ You want to get found by your dream clients while you sleep
SEO is one of the best ways to build momentum without constantly posting, dancing, or paying for ads.

Beginner SEO Tips That Are Easy and Effective

Here’s the good stuff—no confusing tech talk, I promise.

1. Think Like Your Dream Client

SEO starts with understanding what your people are searching for.
Ask yourself:
  • What questions are they Googling?
  • What problems are they trying to solve?
  • What would they type into the search bar?
🎯 Example: If you help new moms with meal planning, your people might search for:
  • “Quick dinner ideas for tired moms”
  • “Meal planning with a baby”
  • “Healthy meals for picky toddlers”
👉 Use those phrases (called keywords) in your blog titles, page headings, and throughout your content naturally.

2. Use One Main Topic Per Page or Post

Don’t try to write about 10 things at once. Stick to one clear topic so Google knows what your page is about.
📌 Pick one keyword or phrase and use it in:
  • Your page title
  • The first paragraph
  • A few times in the body
  • At least one heading (like an H2 or H3)
Easy peasy.

3. Name Your Images the Right Way

Don’t upload photos with names like IMG_2459.jpg.
Instead, name them something helpful like:
lavender-roller-natural-stress-relief.jpg
Why? Because Google reads those file names too!
Bonus: Add alt text to your images (a short description of what’s in the photo) for both SEO and accessibility.

4. Link to Other Helpful Pages

Links help your website feel like a connected little web (hence the name "web-site" 😉).
Here’s what to do:
  • Link to your own pages: “Want to build your website? Here’s my free eBook!”
  • Link to helpful resources your audience would trust (like a blog, article, or tool you love)
Google sees those links and thinks, “Oh hey, this person is helpful and connected!”

5. Keep People on Your Site Longer

The longer people stay on your site, the better.
Here’s how to keep them around:
  • Make your content easy to read (use short paragraphs and fun headings)
  • Add videos, checklists, or freebies
  • Link to other helpful blog posts or pages
  • Use friendly, clear language that makes people want to keep scrolling (like you’re doing right now!)

No need to buy anything fancy. Here are a few free tools I love:
